2023 GMC Yukon vs. Chevy Traverse

April 10th, 2023 by

If you’re looking for a capable and spacious SUV at Woodhouse Buick GMC, we recommend the 2023 GMC Yukon. This model offers plenty of options and performance you can depend on, and it stands out when compared to competitors like the 2023 Chevy Traverse in some key areas.

Power and Capabilities

The 2023 GMC Yukon is the more powerful SUV. The Chevy Traverse has a 3.6-liter V6 that can produce 310 horsepower. The GMC SUV is available with two different V8 engines that are more powerful, including one with an output of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

This means that the GMC Yukon has a higher towing capacity. It can transport a trailer that weighs up to 8,400 pounds when properly equipped. The Chevy Traverse can only tow 5,000 pounds.

Trim Levels

There are multiple trim levels available for both SUVs, but we think that the 2023 GMC Yukon simply has a better selection of variants to choose from. There are two luxurious Denali trim levels and the AT4, a specialized trim level with equipment that makes it perfect for off-road adventuring. The Chevy Traverse offers a premium trim of its own and some interesting options, but the GMC Yukon has the advantage here.

Interior Space

While both models are three-row SUVs, the GMC Yukon offers more total space. The Chevy Traverse maxes out at 98.2 cubic feet of cargo room, but the GMC model can give you up to 122.9 cubic feet of space to make use of.

In-Car Tech

The 2023 GMC Yukon offers more in-car technology options than the 2023 Chevy Traverse. Highlights include a premium Bose® audio system and Super Cruise™, a feature that allows the GMC Yukon to practically drive itself on some highways.
